Activity and Climate

The total daily fluid estimate this calculator produces doesn't need to come exclusively from drinking plain water. Other beverages (tea, coffee, milk, juice) contribute to fluid intake, and food β particularly fruits and vegetables, many of which are 80-95% water by weight β provides a meaningful portion of daily fluid needs as well.
This is why some hydration guidelines cite a higher total fluid number than what people typically think of as "water intake" β the total includes all sources, not just glasses of plain water consumed separately from meals.
